Alfred Brown fabrics on display at Harvey Nichols, Leeds
Alfred Brown fabrics can be seen on display at Harvey Nichols in Leeds as part of a promotion of Yorkshire Textiles over the next few months.
Eleven mills from across Yorkshire have been given the opportunity to show off their best in textile themed displays throughout the store that will run until the summer.
Innovative displays incorporating fabric swatches, loom cards, yarn cones and loom fringing adorn mannequins and dress up the Mens and Ladies floor of the prestigious store. Cascades of fabric from each mill participating in the promotion hang from the 4th Floor. Even the curtains in the changing rooms have been given the Yorkshire Textile touch.
This opportunity to present fabrics to the consumer directly and connect them to the long and fascinating heritage of the local mills comes at a time when consumers are becoming more interested and demanding about the provenance of goods. The promotion has a celebratory feel, but in essence hopes to present the Yorkshire Textile Industry in a vibrant and dynamic light.
Our thanks to Brian Handley, General Manager of Harvey Nichols Leeds, who himself has become increasingly aware of how much local Yorkshire fabric is being used in some of the finest suits selling in the store, and co- founders Suzy Shepherd and Carolyn Lord of Leeds Fashion Works. Jonathan Dyson, President of the Bradford Textile Society and Editor of Twist Magazine has been responsible for co-ordinating the mills during the project.
